Athena Computer Power Launches a New 2U Redundant PSU series, the ORTHUS

Athena Computer Power Corp. ® today has announced their new 2U redundant power supply series, the “Orthus”.  This power supply is the latest in Athena Power’s series of IPC power that includes the PMBus feature and includes the Hot-Swap capabilities to maintain upkeep and security from power failure.  The Orthus series will be released with a 660W, 760W, and 860W version.

The Orthus is designed for the IPC market and can be used in most server rackmounts 2U and up, the dimensions included for the 2U is a slim and long power supply at 3.98x3.31x11.81 inches (wxhxd).  The number of connectors included (min):

The IPC market is very important to Athena Power, with over a hundred products introduced into the market for IPC use Athena Power understands the importance in providing reliable and affordable products for server builders, project managers, and enthusiast.  With the introduction of the Orthus Athena Power wants to give their customers the option to have a PSU with higher wattage and have key features.  “We decided to offer a 2U redundant power supply to provide more options to our customers in the IPC market,” said Joshua Yu, Athena Power’s General Manager of Operations.  “This will also allow these system builders to create high-end servers at an affordable price.”

As a redundant power supply the Orthus helps support IPC users, system builders, and enthusiast with its HOT-Swap feature.  With interchangeable modules the Orthus is built to provide an additional backup power module.  The primary module of the redundant power supply will generate the system’s main power and if it goes down the backup module or secondary module will maintain and support the system.

The PMBus (Power Management Bus) feature is a built in component within the Orthus that allows the system user or IT technician to monitor the status of the power supply through a GUI which doesn’t need any software installation.  The PMBus feature is highly versatile and can translate and communicate information between devices based on both analog and digital technologies.  For more information about the PMBus feature you can visit their website at http://www.pmbus.org
